You might think that it would be best to go to a party store and get everything in one place. However the prices there can be quite high.

Check out dollar stores. They generally have all sorts of party supplies for your Christmas party: plates, cups, tableware, wall, table and tree decorations. You can get inexpensive gifts as game prizes.

Wrapping paper, garlands, ornaments, tinsel and wreaths, they have it all. With dollar stores on almost every other street, you should be able to find everything you need at affordable prices.

Discount chains also have great bargains on the items you need. You can also get the Sunday school kids to make paper chain garlands. These can be made with construction paper, dollar store wrapping paper, whatever you can find. It doesn’t even have to be Christmas paper. Use whatever you can find.

Thrift stores are another great source of Christmas items. The merchandise you find there is often sold for more than 75% or more off of the list price.

There are catalog companies that also have websites. If you buy your Christmas merchandise in bulk you can get phenomenal bargains. These catalogs come out several times a year. Many churches, schools and other organizations buy their Christmas party merchandise from these companies.

Another way is to shop for these party supply items right after Christmas when everything is greatly discounted, since they need to get rid of it to make room for new products. That way you will have a head start on next year’s Christmas party. Often when you shop online and buy in bulk, you get free shipping.

If you are shopping for a church or school and have a tax ID number you may be able to get an even bigger discount. You might want to enlist older Sunday school kids to make paper snowflakes from white paper that you can also get at dollar and discount stores.

At a loss for table decorations? Get poinsettias or other red flowers and some greenery, again from dollar and discount stores. You can use jars, flower pots or vases, all available at the dollar store, even clear plastic cups will work.

Drug stores and supermarkets also sell Christmas decorations at fairly good prices, generally below the price of party and Christmas stores. Here again, you can get as much as 75% off when you shop after Christmas at these stores. They need to sell the Christmas stuff to make room for the spring and Easter party supplies.

Warehouse membership stores are another good source of low cost supplies for your Christmas party.

The best bargains are probably the dollar stores and on line discount catalog companies, especially if you are buying you supplies in bulk. If you are buying for a church or school, buying a gross of plates, cups, etc. is probably barely enough.

So make a list of what you need, such as plates, cups, napkins, tableware, tablecloths, wall, tree and table decorations. You will also want to get some inexpensive game prizes and some gifts to go in Santa’s pack.

If you shop around and compare stock and costs among different vendors, you can save some big money by doing that. Now at least you know where to find Christmas merchandise for party in case you get stuck with the same job next year. This is a strong possibility of that since you saved so much money this year.
