You are hosting a holiday party and have your menu set, found a source of cheap supplies, purchased or made your decorations and now are trying to come up with some fun Christmas party activities.
A lot depends on the nature of your guest list. Will this be a private party for friends and family, a company party, school, church, or community center party? Is the party for adults only, families, children or seniors? Each group will have different interests and needs.
For a private party with friends and family, you may want a sit down dinner with dancing and a gift exchange. On the other hand an office party, a more casual affair with a buffet, games and favors is likely the best choice.
You might want to have a tree lighting ceremony. The office manager could be the person to throw the switch or a name could be drawn from a list of employees.
Games for adults might include Christmas trivia that would have people answer questions about Christmas themed movies, books and songs. Musical chairs and charades are popular games that can be lively and fun. Adults as well as children might enjoy a game of “Pin the Nose on Rudolph”.
A church party might start with the lighting of the Christmas tree by the pastor. This could be followed by some games, refreshments, a visit from Santa Claus and the grand finale the pageant portraying the First Christmas.
A children’s party should be fast moving since kids have short attention spans. Refreshments should be simple snacks. Games such as musical chairs and pin the nose on Rudolph will entertain kids of all ages.
Of course the kids will all be anxiously awaiting the highlight of the evening, the arrival of Santa Claus and the distribution of gifts. We hope these ideas will help you plan your Christmas party activities.
