You have made your own Christmas cards before but this year you are looking for some unique Christmas card ideas to make. My advice is to go to the local card store or department store to get an idea of what is popular this year. Some cards in the stores look like they may be photos of homemade cards.
Do a rough sketch of the card and then go home and create your own version. Don’t try to make an exact copy, that could be copyright infringement. Use the sketch for inspiration only. Cut a Christmas tree or ornament shape from a piece of plain paper and apply repositionable adhesive and put the shape on the front of your card. Spray the card with gold or silver paint and then remove the shape you applied. Write your greeting in that space.
Choose a nice font to type the names of family members and pets if you like, print them out and arrange on the front of the card in the shape of a wreath. You might want to apply some clear glue and sprinkle it with glitter, again write your greeting in the center of the wreath.
Give your kids free reign, supply them with some felt or foam Christmas shapes, glue and cards and let them create their own unique designs. You may want to supervise them and maybe limit the number of shapes they can use on one card, but otherwise who cares if their color choices don’t go together.
Print some labels on your computer that read “created by Suzy Jones” or “John Doe”. If the kids did the cards have the label read “made by John Doe age 8”. The kids can send these cards to grandparents, etc. You will enjoy coming up with unique Christmas card ideas.
